The quartz content of Zodiaq® means it is extremely hard, and the technology behind its production makes it heat and scratch resistant. However, no stone is impervious to extreme stresses, so reasonable care will guarantee the continued excellent appearance and performance of the engineered stone. It best to use heat pads or trivets for protecting the Zodiaq® surface from thermal shock of a hot pan or pot, and avoid striking the surface with excessive force, especially the edges and areas with little or no under support. You can cut food items on the surface with a smooth knife without causing damage, but using the pointed end of a knife or a serrated edge will damage it. Spills should not be allowed to sit for long periods, especially for light colored countertops.
There is no need to polish, seal, wax, or recondition a Zodiaq® surface to keep it looking pristine. The polymers used in conjunction with the quartz are stain-resistant. It is easy to clean it; soap and warm water usually suffices. Routine care of the Zodiaq® comprise of a paper towel or clean, damp cloth to clean up fresh spills, and non-abrasive cleaner such as a glass cleaner with no bleach to remove dried-on spills. The best way to remove gum, nail polish, or dried on grease is to use a non-scratch scrub pad or plastic putty knife. High-alkaline cleansers will damage the surface.
Zodiaq® quartz countertops are non-porous and great for use in the kitchen for food preparation. It is both NSF/ANSI Standard 51 Certified and Class I(A) fire rated, which means hot food prepared on a Zodiaq®kitchen is safe to eat. With regular cleaning and proper maintenance, it will not promote the growth of bacteria, mold, or mildew.
